Week One: Define and Measure

Define
· The mainstay process: ensure that processes are aligned
· 30,000 feet and 600 miles an hour: the macro flow diagram
· Procedures and work instructions
· Get the right team members on board
· Detailing the Six Sigma project binder
· Finalize the Six Sigma project WBS
· Defining cost of poor quality

Measure
· Rational sampling
· Measurement System Assessment I (MSA I)
· Measuring cost of poor quality
· Developing data collection forms
· SPC overview: obtaining a process understanding using basic charts

Week Two: Analyze

Project Reports and Discussions

Detailing the Process

· The micro-flow diagram: document every important process action.
· Analyzing the process: performing a Process FMEA
· Analyzing product designs: performing a Product FMEA
· Performing a cause and effects analysis
· Selecting important cause and effects to analyze
· An introduction to simple applied statistics and reliability statistics
· An introduction to Design of Experiments (factorial, fractional factorial, location effects, variance effects, and yield effects)
· Developing a scientific verification plan

Week Three: Improve

· Defining technical solutions

Week Four: Control

Prepare for Project Closure
· Each participant must submit a completed Six Sigma project to EMU for final review
